Industrial AI Reality Check: What Works, What Fails, and What We Can Stop Doing
Keynote, Production & IT, Graz — [Date]
In this keynote, I discussed the practical realities of AI adoption in industrial and production-oriented organizations. The talk focused on where AI creates real value, why many AI initiatives fail to move from prototype to production, and why the central challenge is no longer only model capability, but architecture, governance, process understanding, and organizational judgment.
Key topics included the shift of software building closer to operational processes, the role of AI in capturing fragile process knowledge, the difference between AI-generated input and measurable business outcomes, and the risks of deploying agents on top of fragmented data and unclear permissions. The keynote concluded with the argument that industrial AI should not be treated as a feature or isolated productivity tool, but as an architectural and organizational capability.
